As part of Camalig Bank’s 50th Year Anniversary, Tabaco City Office personnel conducted a tree planting event at Barangay Jonop, Malinao, Albay on Saturday, October 19, 2019.

The aforementioned activity aims to share blessings to the community as their corporate social responsibility. The activity was implemented in coordination with the NPC-Tiwi Watershed thru Engr. Reuel Declaro, Section Chief, Ma. Luisa Borlagdatan, LGU Malinao MENRO Officer, and the Brgy. Council of Jonop headed by Chairman Jose Cierva.

On October 15, 2019, CB personnel, together with Mr. Ricky of Tiwi Watershed, gathered the Agoho seedlings from Brgy. Baybay, Malinao and delivered them to Brgy. Jonop, Malinao in preparation for the actual planting.

As early as 6:00 AM of October 19, 2019, equipped with farm implements such as hoe, bolo, trowel, spade , dressed in long sleeve jackets, and wearing dark glasses as shield from the heat of the sun, the team headed to Barangay Jonop to fulfill its mission.

The noble endeavor was participated by equally energetic, able and willing nature enthusiasts. Around 150 Agoho seedlings were carefully planted in the area in accordance with the Watershed procedure and design. In a span of 10 to 15 years, Agoho tree which is known for its resiliency and strength, would already be fully grown and can be used for coastal sand dune stabilization, shelter belts, land reclamation, and erosion control. Aside from becoming a leisure and bird sanctuary, it also plays an indispensable role as buffer to insulate rice farms near the shoreline from the devastating winds during strong typhoons. However, the trees must be constantly monitored after planting to assure unceasing growth.

This kind of activity is an unforgettable learning experience considering that we will be leaving a legacy to the next generation.
